All of the whiskies used in this rarest blend are between 45 and 70 years old. A limited edition of only 200 bottles have been produced each has value of approximately $20,000 - $27,000.
Slashfood.com says the luxury resort Halekulani in Hawaii is giving whisky aficionados an opportunity to sip a bit of history. The hotel's la Mer restaurant is offering this exceedingly rare Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1805 at $325 for a 1 1/2 ounce pour. Drinks Business Review dated October 2008 reports that the whisky comes in a Victorian-style writing case with an antique nib pen and a replica of Alexander Walker's (John Walker's grandson) original handwritten recipe book.
